Entrance Fee/Rules
The admission fee for the corn maze is $10 for adults, $6 for kids 4-12, and free for kids under three.
It’s lovely to know that part of the admission fee is donated to the American Cancer Society and the Connecticut Cancer Foundation.
Upon paying, you will be greeted at the entrance of the corn maze by employees who will give you some guidelines and offer you hint cards and a map if you are interested.
The hint cards are filled with ten trivia questions that you will use when you encounter labeled posts throughout the corn maze.
Read the trivia question, answer the question, and then use the directional hint based on your answer to guide your way.
There are a variety of topics you can choose for your hints. My sister chose the movie hint card, while I chose the sports hint card. Other categories included topics such as history, health, and music.
Along with the directional trivia questions, posters displaying Benjamin Franklin’s fun facts are hung throughout the paths.
You can learn some fascinating things when you take time to enjoy the cards.
The corn maze theme
The best part about this corn maze in Connecticut is the elaborate theme of the maze’s design.
Each year, the theme changes.
In 2022, the maze theme was part of the “All American” series and featured all things Ben Franklin.
I don’t know how they do it, but from a bird’s eye view, the corn maze featured a picture of Benjamin Franklin, a key, a lightning bolt, the Lyman Orchard name, and the hashtag All American.
Can you find them in the picture?
Find your way out of the corn maze
This corn maze in Connecticut is massive, with over 4 acres of twists and turns.
It can take up to forty-five minutes to navigate your way through the cornfield, but the time will fly by because it is so much fun.
The paths through the corn maze are wide, cleared, and well-marked. They are the perfect size to walk hand in hand with a date and wide enough for a family with kids.
Don’t worry about getting lost in the maze. Throughout the corn maze, ‘corn cops’ keep an eye on guests and offer assistance if necessary.
Additionally, if you want to leave the maze early, there is a midway exit.
Other fun corn maze activities
As if the corn maze isn’t fun enough, Lyman Orchards has other fun activities planned for the corn maze.
Past events have included a fun golf ball maze collaboration called, Corn Balls in the Corn Maze. This event allowed guests to win prizes like gift cards and cash if they found a golf ball in the maze.
Additionally, guests 21 years and older should be on the lookout for collaborations with the orchard including events such as Brew Maze Beer Tasting on special days.
You can taste six local Connecticut beers during your journey through the maze. How fun is that!?
Visit the market before heading home
Before leaving the corn maze, don’t miss out on the super cute Apple Barrel Market.
The store sells a wide variety of apples from the orchard, baked goods, and homemade ice cream at the market creamery.
A slice of apple pie and a scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream is the perfect ending to a delightful fall day at the corn maze.
Don’t worry if you don’t like vanilla, there are many flavors from which to choose.
Let me tell you, the ice cream with the homemade apple pie was the best I’ve ever tasted!
A corn maze and so much more
Lyman Orchards offers this amazing corn maze, but there is so much more to experience.
The pick-your-own fruit experience is open from June to November and has been named one of the Top 10 spots in the U.S.A. for apple picking.
In addition to the corn maze, Lyman Orchards opens a sunflower maze in late summer.
Finally, if you have a bit of time, the golf center has three courses to give a try.
Enjoy a great day trip to Connecticut when you are in New England. I promise you it will be a fun time for the whole family.
