Welcome to He Works So I Travel, your gateway to exploring the hidden gems and must-see destinations across the U.S., Canada, and the enchanting Caribbean.

My name is Michele Smisek, and I have always loved to travel. I have been passionate about exploring new places since I was a child, when my aunt, who shares my enthusiasm, introduced me to thrilling adventures that fueled my passion even more.

Our adventures took us across the United States and Canada, forging unforgettable memories. From three-week Hawaiian odysseys, exploring Maui’s volcanic wonders, walking on black sand beaches, and tasting pineapple sweetness, my childhood was a whirlwind of discovery.

Each spring, Aspen, Colorado, became my annual playground. Skiing down the Snowmass slopes and wandering Aspen’s boutiques held an irresistible charm.

When I was a young teen, I got to experience something pretty amazing: flying on a private plane to the stunning Great Smoky Mountains! The experience was incredible and gave me a taste of the type of travel I loved.

One unforgettable summer, I was in St. John’s, Newfoundland, a rugged and picturesque island. My days were adorned with hikes, a quest for wild blueberries, and a scary encounter with a wild bear.

The thrill of sharing space with such a magnificent creature left an indelible mark, sparking a passion for seeing animals in the wild.

Then came Montreal, Canada. My particular journey there acquainted me with the elegance of the French language and the seductive taste of French pastries.

I have a special place in my heart for Canada. Each visit, whether to charming Victoria, BC, or the breathtaking beauty of Banff National Park, adds another layer to my love for this country. The stunning landscapes, rich history, and friendly people make me feel more connected with Canada with every visit.

During my travels, I’ve found some of the best places in the U.S., like the Kancamagus Highway, Carmel by the Sea, and the beaches of 30A.

No trip is perfect, and I still remember my first missed flight, which left me stranded in San Francisco due to a missed connection. Yet, as fate would have it, this mishap led to one of my favorite travel memories: an exclusive limo tour. We enjoyed Chinatown’s flavors and Fisherman’s Wharf’s vibe and drove over the Golden Gate Bridge with wind in our hair.

I love to travel and share my experiences with you on He Works So I Travel, and I hope to encourage you to embrace travel as well.

Welcome, and thank you for joining me on these adventures!

Types of Trips to Expect from He Works So I Travel

I can’t get enough of the holidays! Not only do I love the winter weather, but I also love the spirit that comes with it. The holiday season is a time to celebrate and be with family and friends.

I know it’s unusual, but I especially love traveling during the holidays to learn about others through their traditions.

Above everything else, I love exploring new places, usually on a last-minute whim.

Nothing makes me happier than taking an adventure to a new place. I’ve been to some fantastic places that I would have never seen if it weren’t for my spontaneous trips!

When not planning a trip, I obsess over my grandsons, who keep me feeling young.

I love to read romantic novels and can give you a suggestion to read at any time. I obsessively read about other people’s travel experiences, too.

I listen to audiobooks whenever I take a road trip.

And, I enjoy chocolate desserts way too much!

I enjoy watching all types of sports. My favorite show is College Gameday on ESPN. I hope to one day meet Kirk Herbstreit, who I think has the coolest job ever.

I love traveling with my family, but it’s not always easy for schedules to align.

Fortunately, we plan a week-long trip to the mountains in Colorado at Thanksgiving with all the kids in the snow!

I also love traveling with my sisters. They eagerly go with me on girlfriend getaways to places like Las Vegas, Chicago, and New England. One of my earliest memories of an all-girls trip was a thrilling week at the Polynesian Resort in Disney World. It was an enchanting experience filled with character meet-and-greets and exciting rides.

We always have such a blast together. It’s a fantastic way to spend time with them and catch up on everything that’s going on in our busy lives.
