For travelers who want to sleep inside the historic walls of Old San Juan, CasaBlanca Hotel is worth a look. This is a small boutique hotel with a colorful, Moroccan-inspired design that feels playful and a little unexpected for the neighborhood.

CasaBlanca sits right in the middle of Old San Juan. That location is its biggest strength.

Everything is walkable. Restaurants, bars, shops, and historic sites are just steps away. After a night out exploring the city, this hotel makes getting “home” very easy.

We didn’t stay here, but we stopped by after a night out, and the location made sense right away.

This is the kind of place you choose when you want to be part of the energy, not watching it from afar.

The rooftop is another standout feature. Views stretch across the colorful rooftops of Old San Juan and out toward the water. It’s a great spot for a quiet moment in the morning or a late-night pause after dinner.

That said, CasaBlanca comes with mixed reviews, and it’s important to be clear about why. Rooms can be small. The building is historic, which means quirks come with the charm. This is not a luxury hotel, and it’s not trying to be one.

Parking is expensive and limited, which is typical for Old San Juan. Travelers staying here are better off skipping a rental car and using ride shares when needed.

CasaBlanca works best for travelers who value location over amenities.

If being able to walk everywhere matters more than beach access or pools, this hotel delivers. It’s a solid option for shorter stays or travelers who plan to spend most of their time exploring the city.
