Where is the Cosmopolitan buffet?

A lengthy walk will lead you to a back corner of Level 2 in Chelsea Tower. Here, you will find The Cosmopolitan Buffet, named The Wicked Spoon.

The Wicked Spoon seats a considerable volume of people across four dining areas. The seating ranges from small two-top tables to tables that can easily seat a group of twenty.

Avoid a Long Wait Time at The Cosmopolitan Buffet

Timing is everything. To avoid a long wait time for the Cosmopolitan Buffet, eat on a weekday.

The Wicked Spoon Buffet once separated breakfast from lunch, but in 2023, moved to serve all-day brunch. In the past, you could arrive at the end of the breakfast service, around 10:45 AM, to greatly reduce your wait time on most days.

Now that the Cosmopolitan buffet does not transition between breakfast and lunch, you can enjoy breakfast and lunch choices.

Although reservations are unnecessary, you can also avoid a long wait time by booking online here.

The Food at the Cosmopolitan Buffet

The endless variety of food at the Cosmopolitan buffet will leave your mouth watering. Stations line the back of the restaurant and extend into the middle.

The buffet includes classic comfort food typically associated with American buffets, but there is much more.

The best part, in my opinion, is that the food portions are now almost entirely served in single quantities.

Breakfast at the Cosmopolitan Buffet

When you arrive, when breakfast is ending, and lunch is beginning, you will still have many breakfast options from which to choose.

The breakfast items include typical fare like eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, a variety of bread, muffins, donuts, and so much more.

There are waffles, fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and biscuits and gravy.

The cinnamon walnut french toast with warm syrup and crispy bacon with a strawberry compote is delicious.

An omelet station cooks eggs to order.

Fresh fruit and assorted cheeses are also set out.

Appetizers

Appetizers include healthy salads, seasonal fruit, fresh soups, and a giant charcuterie board. The preportioned appetizers are plated nicely.

The setup includes other appetizers with International twists, such as chips and guacamole with corn relish, beef and lamb gyros, tamales, hummus, potstickers, and egg rolls.

Again, note the individual servings.

Entrees/Sides

The Cosmopolitan buffet’s obvious main draw is not the breakfast menu, the salads, or the appetizers, but the crab legs. Piles of fresh steamed snow crab and hot, steaming butter have patrons lining up.

Next to the crab legs are tons of Asian options, including fresh sushi, curried noodles, and a ramen bar.

With my eye on the dessert area, I only tried the Lap Cheong fried rice, which is amazing. It is served in these small individual-sized take-out boxes.

Nearby, a fresh carving station has chefs serving grilled meats, prime rib, and fresh sausages. Side dishes like Angry Mac and Cheese, Roasted Carrots with Grilled Citrus, and a full Loaded Mashed Potato Bar beg to be tasted.

One of the specialty items served here is the bone marrow short rib served with pickled onion and lemon gremolata. I am not a big meat eater, so I asked Kevin to try it for me. He said this dish is outstanding!

In his words, the flavor is indescribable, like a moist, flavorful piece of meat that’s not really meat.

The Best Part of the Cosmopolitan Buffet

I’m pretty sure I was born with a sweet tooth. In fact, I would have paid for this buffet just to visit the dessert section.

I can honestly say that I took one for the team and tried every one of the desserts. You guys are welcome!

In all seriousness, the desserts are amazing!

My absolute favorites are the chocolate lava cake on the top left that is served warm and the creme brulee on the bottom middle.

In addition to these fabulous desserts, the Cosmopolitan buffet serves the best gelato I have ever eaten. I’m not usually fond of gelato, but after tasting the gelato at Wicked Spoon, I am now a fan.
